BE HAPPY FOR THIS MOMENT. THIS MOMENT IS YOUR LIFE.
— OMAR KHAYYAM
I’m Elly. (The horse is Moana.)
I genuinely believe we are all artists, all capable of finding joy in creativity. Dance, music, crochet, drawing, building, anything. For me it is art: Painting, drawing, printmaking, those kinds of things.
Reminding people about how important creativity is, and teaching them ways to make room for creativity in their lives is what I like to do.
Most of what you might want to know about me and my personality you will find in my blog posts and in my art, because that is what I use to keep sane and express the world as I see it – but here are the facts.
I am 34 years old, a mum of three boys, a wife, an artist, and a teacher. I live in Sydney, Australia after moving here in 2001 from Auckland, New Zealand.
Art is the language that I use to translate my world the internal and external ones. It brings the world into greater focus and grounds me in the moment more than anything else has. With three kids it is hard to find time to make art, let alone meditate, but creative journaling and art has become the back bone of my mindfulness practice.
Working through bipolar disorder, cancer, and all of the other challenges that life throws at you is hard. Art helps.
